Discussing How To Take Our Bible Study To Deeper Levels

If a worldwide governmental mandate was made today that caused your Bible to be taken from you, would you have enough stored in your heart that you would not be able to be deceived?  Governmental mandates disable many Christians today to be without regular use of a Bible.

Throughout history, world powers have taken Bibles to herd people away from God.  Would you be prepared for a statue of that sort?  Eve did not have a “Bible” on her and a minute manipulation caused so much tragedy for all of mankind.  Do you have all the words, commas, periods, and quotation marks stored in your heart, so what happened to her does not happen to you?  We do not know when the Antichrist, the man of lawlessness and perdition is going to reveal himself, but when he does, we know he will be deceiving the masses, and the word of God is going to prevent you from being deceived in the coming hard times.  Revelations 3:7-10 says:

It (referring to the beast of Revelations 13) was allowed to make war on God’s holy people and to defeat them; and it was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation.  Everyone living on earth will worship it except those whose names are written in the Book of Life belonging to the Lamb slaughtered before the world was founded.  Those who have ears, let them hear!  “If anyone is meant for captivity, into captivity he goes! If anyone is to be killed with the sword, with the sword he is to be killed!” This is when God’s holy people must persevere and trust! (emphasis added)

Bible study is the single, most important practice that you could possibly include in your day.  The Word of God is more paramount than a gun, sword, a house, or even food.  All physical necessities go away, but what you sow from the Word of God into your Spirit thru Bible Study, will not go away.  Knowing this, Satan has always used the world empires to rid God’s people of His word, and many martyrs like William Tyndale, the Waldeneses, and others have died, so people like you and I can hold a Bible in our hands and be recipients of truth.

He tries whipping, starving, burning, crucifying, and torturing God’s people because that is the limit of his ability, but we are not to fear the one who is only limited to harming the body, but cannot hurt the soul.  Matthew 10:27-29 says, ““Do not fear those who kill the body but are powerless to kill the soul. Rather, fear him who can destroy both soul and body in Gei-Hinnom.  Aren’t sparrows sold for next to nothing, two for an assarion? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father’s consent.”  The Bible is the food that empower us to transcend our physical needs and replenish the aspects of our being that cannot be seen.  You and I need it!

Today, many people rely on men to interpret the scriptures for them, and because of the error of man, they receive some truth mixed with lies.  In this post, we are going to discuss how we can declutter from excessive intake of interpretations of scripture rather than reading the scripture and allowing the Holy Spirit to interpret it to you… Let’s go!

From the New Testament period on, we are in the age of awaiting Yeshua’s return.  We don’t know the exact amount of time before the Lord returns.  We don’t know the exact amount of time before the antichrist presents himself.

Many people try to interpret Daniel’s 70 weeks prophecy or other prophecies to assume an exact date, but Yeshua told us that no one knows the exact day or time.  He also told us that we must be prepared, or His return will appear to us as a thief in the night (completely unexpected).  To prevent this unexpected appearance, we are to study the scriptures, so we know the seasonal milestones proceeding the return of the Messiah, and we are mapping them out.  TO truly be prepared, we need to go deep into the word of God, so I want to give you 2 simple rules to help:

Tip #1: Verify All Things Outside of the Original Context of the Authors of the Bible with the Bible

This rule causes me to limit my intake a whole bunch.  When I watch or listen to something, it takes at least double the time to verify it.

Whether it is a translation of the Bible, movie, song, sermon, or Bible study, after you are finished listening to an interpretation of life or circumstance from outside of the Bible, you want to go back and verify its paradigms of the truth with scriptures.  Once someone has stepped between you and the Bible to interpret it to you, sometimes, it can be difficult to remain unbiased because their teaching may appeal to your logic embedded in your flesh.

The people who place themselves in between your understanding of life from a biblical perspective are mediums.  There are good mediums and bad ones; people who direct you to God and people who turn you away.  Mediums are entertainers, translators, pastors, teachers, parents, friends, advisors, and all those around you who amend your interpretation of life.  Examine all things and ensure the lens of your understanding is screened thru and based upon the Word of God.

Everybody cannot be an advisor to you thru song, word, or deed.  For that reason, you must be careful with who and what you entertain.  Not everyone can be permitted access into the gates to your soul (eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and sensory parts).  Pull back, neutralize your bias, allow the idea that their interpretation may be wrong, and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth to you.  Be like the church of Ephesus in this area.  They pleased God by their discernment of teachers.

Tip #2: Study The Bible To Understand It On Multiple Levels

It is too common that people read the Bible as a story book or newspaper, take a scripture from it based on their understanding of that passage, and use it to base an entire doctrine.  You cannot base an entire doctrine off of one scripture!  In the foundation of the law is the principle that no one can be proven guilty without the witness of two or three witnesses.  Deuteronomy 19:16 says, “One witness alone will not be sufficient to convict a person of any offense or sin of any kind; the matter will be established only if there are two or three witnesses testifying against him.”  This same principle is applicable to scripture, anything that you cannot prove with consistency with two or more scriptures is not a valid doctrine.

The Jews Teach that scripture should be studied in four levels.  I am referencing amightywind.com for alot of the information that I am including in this post, so check out their page for further explanation.  Many people are simply studying in the P’shat level and taking doctrines to others based upon this level of understanding.  We need to go deeper into the word!

P’shat Level

The P’shat level is the plain sense of the text. When you read the Bible as a book, what does it actually say?  When you divide every word, phrase, and thought has a meaning, there is no word that is redundant or idle.  What does each word, phrase, and thought written mean?  Even if it appears to be, it is not. It is filled with meaning for us to learn.

Drash Level

The Drash level is where truth and principle are presented. Truth can only be truth if it is confirmed. Confirmation as we know must come in the form of evidence and evidence must be at least two or three witnesses.  Even in the scripture, we need to find two or three witnesses of a principle, before we can even suspect that it may be a truth.  Sometimes by seeking for two or three witnesses, you will find a false translation or an edgy translation that can be taken multiple ways.  Be careful and discerning!

Remez Level

The Remez level is the underlying theme or story that is told while speaking of other things. It is how prophecy is laid into the story of history. This level shows the plan for Yeshua’s redemption and restoration.  This level requires the study of history from creation on.  You must understand the entire world history story, so when your reading scripture, you can understand how the blocks of history have piled on top of one another, you can have some understanding about why the audience would have the level of insight they did, and other details.  Prophecy cannot be understood without the backdrop of biblical history.

Sod Level

The Sod level is the mysterious and coded level. This involves the understanding of numbers, the understanding of the native languages of the Bible (Hebrew and Greek) along with the pictoral languages, their migration, and the meaning associated with certain numerical values. For example, the number 1 represents “Echad” or Oneness, “Two” represents struggle, division or witness, etc. Another example, the first letter of the Hebrew alef bet was the picture of an ox.  Anytime this picture shows up, you would have an understanding of the word based on the characteristics of all of the pictures combined.  This level also involves the meanings of names.

Yeshua wants us prepared for His return, and an accurate interpretation of His word is paramount, so declutter, and restore yourself to the truth!  I’m not all the way there, but I am running the race.  Will you run with me?

Action Steps:

  • Meditate on the words of God like the food you eat or the air you breath
  • Keep advisors around you that are sound in the Word of God and demonstrate the understanding in their ways
  • Reject advice that opposes the Word of God
  • Go Deeper into His words
  • Study history to understand the times written in the Bible and their likeness to your current circumstance
  • Use all 4 levels of Bible Study and more if you can find them. lol!

I hope this day day never come, but I know enough about Jesus through all the studies I’ve made from the Bible to sustains me.

It’s true that, not everyone lives or interpret the Scriptures the same way, or focus on the same kind of passages. It was true in the days of Jesus and the apostle Paul. And it’s also true today.

The problem for example, with the religious leaders of Jesus’ time, was not that they did not know the Scriptures, it was their interpretation of it that was off.

This is from where I am starting personally. I start with how Jesus and the apostle Paul were interpreting it. That is how I could make a difference between how I interpret the Scriptures and how other Christians around me could interpret it.

I don’t have to agree with their interpretation in every little details, and I don’t need to seek their approval either on how I personally interpret it – even from my pastor.

One of the first verse that hit me as a new Christian several years ago was Romans 14:22 that says: “that faith that you have keep it between yourself and God”.

I must confess that, I didn’t obey that verse right away, as I was trying to convince other people with the conviction I had, and feeling guilty when my life didn’t seem to be conformed to what I thought other Christians were thinking.

I don’t if it makes any sense or reach a little one of the two tip you talk about here. What do you think?

When Jesus returns will be a good day. Prior to that, it says God will give grace, so He will sustain those who trust Him thru the tribulation, so it won’t be anything to fear if we simply trust what He says when He tells us He will be with us.  There’s peace and sustenance wherever He is and He won’t leave us hanging.

The scripture you added and your explanation makes a lot of sense! I think we are all like that in the honeymoon phase of anything.  If you just started a business, you want everybody to know and buy, and the same with Christianity.  Unfortunately, just because we;re confident we’ve made a good decision does not mean other people will buy into the decision with us. That’s a great scripture.
